LinkedIn Myth #4: You can get all your business through LinkedIn
You may have people in your network who say “I win all my business through LinkedIn” – and boy that can feel intimidating!!
The truth is though when you break it down, they don’t. Their business success does not come down to just LinkedIn and being active on it.

When you hear someone say “I made £120k on LinkedIn this year” the first thing you want to ask is how much does their top package cost. If it is £10k, we now know they sold 12 package. In a 12 month period, this is only 1 per month, which, when you look at it this way isn’t so intimidating.
But here is the thing to remember. Their success wasn’t because of LinkedIn.
Their success was because:
- They had a £10k package people wanted to buy
- They booked Sales Appointments (the only avenue to selling)
- They know how to sell
- They developed trust with the prospect
- They have credibility in their industry
At the end of the day, LinkedIn is merely the tool. It provides access to ideal prospects who haven’t yet become aware they have a problem (if they were aware, SEO would be a more appropriate strategy) and the ability to position yourself as an expert and leverage trust. But there is a lot more going on here than just LinkedIn.
Businesses that work require strong foundations. Curious what these foundations are? Download a copy of my book The Expert Economy and find out.
