Every LinkedIn user has the option to customise their LinkedIn Profile Banner. This is the image that sits at the top of your profile behind your headshot. All you need to do is upload your image from your desktop and set it in place.
The best way to do this is to create your own image using the exact dimensions so your images sit just right. We recommend using Canva or similar to create your own custom image that’s just right for your brand. You can upload your own graphics or take advantage of the free stock images available.
When creating your image, you’ll want to make sure you follow some basic guideline rules.
Your LinkedIn Banner Image needs to be 1584px by 396px.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Canva’s LinkedIn Profile Banner template is set to 1400px x 425px, which isn’t the right size. To create your own custom size graphic to the right specifications, click on ‘Custom Design’ found on the right above the design options.
You also need to account for how your profile renders on different devices. For example, when you view a LinkedIn Profile on a desktop, the headshot will be on the left, but when viewed from a mobile phone or tablet, the headshot will be in the middle.
Therefore you’ll want to avoid putting words or important content in these areas.
In the template below, the shaded area depicts the ‘no go’ zone. Aim to avoid putting words, logos and other important content in the shaded area.
