However, if you haven’t first built the relationship and established the need, your ‘pitch’ will not only fall on deaf ears but also cause damage to any potential relationship you may have had.

Could they have been prospects had you taken the time to build your brand, establish the need and start a relationship?
Could they have become key referrers? Could they have found their way to you if you had a great brand and great content?
This is what I mean by prospects coming to you pre-sold and ready to buy.
There is a lot more to making LinkedIn work than just sending out messages, especially when most ‘pitch’ messages fall on deaf ears and break rapport.
