LinkedIn Isn’t Working? Here’s Why (and How to Fix It)

by | Apr 17, 2025 | Strategy First | 0 comments

Think LinkedIn isn’t working anymore? You’re not alone. But it’s not the platform — it’s your strategy.

If you’re showing up on LinkedIn but seeing little return, this post is for you. We’ll explore why the problem might not be LinkedIn itself — but how you’re using it — and what to do to start getting real results.

The Frustration Is Real

You write posts. You comment. You even experiment with video or carousels.

But nothing seems to land. The views are low. The engagement is quiet. And it’s starting to feel like LinkedIn just… doesn’t work anymore.

Sound familiar?

You’re not alone.

“Is It Me… or Is LinkedIn just not working?”

Every week in my LinkedIn Surgery sessions, I hear the same question:

“Has something changed with LinkedIn?”

And I get it. When you’ve been showing up consistently and nothing happens, it’s easy to think something’s broken.

But the reality?

LinkedIn isn’t broken. But the way you’re using it might be.

What’s Actually Going Wrong

Here’s the truth most people don’t realise:

LinkedIn doesn’t stop working. It just stops rewarding the wrong strategy.

And by “wrong,” I don’t mean bad. I mean misaligned.

Here are the three biggest issues I see:

  • A profile that reads like a CV, not a value proposition
  • Content that’s smart, but not emotionally or strategically connected to your niche
  • No clear call to action, so the reader has nowhere to go next

LinkedIn Is a Mirror, Not a Megaphone

If your content isn’t converting, LinkedIn isn’t to blame.

It’s simply reflecting back the clarity, intention, and positioning of your strategy.

That might sound brutal — but actually, it’s brilliant. Because it means the fix isn’t algorithm-deep. It’s about messaging, structure, and being seen as the only person someone wants to work with.

What Works in 2025 (And Beyond)

Here’s what actually cuts through right now:

  • A profile that leads with value, not history
  • Messaging rooted in a real, specific problem your audience wants solved
  • Relatable, consistent content — not just clever posts
  • Calls to action that feel like an invitation, not a pitch

The magic? You don’t need to go viral.

You need to show up with strategy. Let your audience know what you do, who it’s for, and how to work with you. Then stay consistent long enough for people to notice.

It’s easy to assume LinkedIn isn’t working when posts fall flat. But often, it’s not about visibility — it’s about clarity. When your profile and content speak directly to the problem your audience is facing, engagement follows naturally. That’s the real secret to making LinkedIn work for you.

LinkedIn isn’t broken. But it is asking you to be clear, strategic, and visible.
