How to ask for your first Recommendation
If you’ve already received recommendations on LinkedIn, adding new ones is pretty simple. You just go to the segment of your LinkedIn profile and click Manage.
However, if you’ve never had a recommendation before, navigating your way can be pretty tricky. In this blog post, I hope to clear this up for you and help those who are new to the platform receive their first LinkedIn Recommendation.
To request your first LinkedIn Recommendation, you will need to:
- Visit the profile of the person from whom you wish to receive it
- Click on triple dots on the top right of their profile. Select ‘Request a Recommendation’.
3. Follow the prompts and submit the request.
You will be notified once the person has supplied the recommendation. You will have the opportunity to approve it or ask for adjustments. Don’t be afraid to ask for them – or offer to draft the recommendation for them – most people don’t know what to write and will be happy for the help.
If you have any questions, let us know.
Can you reorder the recommendations. Also interesting a site about LinkedIn that doesn’t let you login with LinkedIn, ironic
Hi Michael, Thanks for your comments. Yes you can re-order your experience again now. LinkedIn have bought the feature back in the last few weeks. You can view the article here – https://theprofile.company/linkedin-brings-back-the-ability-to-re-order-your-experience/
With regard to logging in with LinkedIn, it is something we worked very hard to do but LinkedIn wouldn’t recognise the URL of the website. So we might ask why does a site like LinkedIn still not have this functionality two years + after the new URL format was introduced. Saying that we haven’t tried again in the last 6 months so thanks for the reminder! We’ll revisit it and see what happens.
